Hair Rebonding is a time-consuming process. The whole process can take somewhere between three to ten hours, depending on the length and thickness of your hair. The method comprises of different steps, each of these steps is essential, and some of them take around half an hour of prep step.
The process includes:
Washing the hair with a mild cleanser but not conditioning it.
Blow drying or naturally drying the hair.
Once the hair is dried, the hair stylist divides the hair into different sections based on the thickness and texture of your hair.
The hair is kept straight on thin plastic boards, and relaxant is applied to it. The chemicals are applied evenly throughout the hair, coating each strand.
The relaxant is left on your hair for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the need for your hair type.
You will then be steamed for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on your hair condition.
The next step includes washing and drying your hair.
The next step includes applying keratin lotion to the hair, and then the hair is straightened out using a flat ceramic iron heated up to 180 degrees.
A neutralizer is then applied to the hair to keep the bonds in their place. It is left on there for about 30 minutes.
After the 30 minutes timeline, the hair is washed and rinsed with cold water. The temperature of the hair helps close the hair cuticle.
After the hair is washed and blow-dried again, a serum will be applied to the hair along with another flat iron treatment.
The last step includes getting maintenance instructions and products to maintain the hair.
